Nicolás Caffo

Mr. Caffo has a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires with specialization in commercial law, and is currently studying in the prestigious Geneva LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS). Mr. Caffo´s experience in corporate law lead him to be appointed by the City of Buenos Aires Bar Association as it youngest legal expert in corporate law, a position he has held since 2014.

Mr. Caffo has participated in international commercial and investment arbitrations under the arbitration rules of the ICSID, UNCITRAL and ICC, in original and annulment proceedings, and has extensive experience in transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions in Latin America, and advising public and private companies and individuals in matters related to corporate, commercial, administrative, and international law.

Academically, Mr. Caffo participates in the IIAs Mapping Project of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as a member of the Bilateral Agreements mapping team of the University of Buenos Aires. Mr. Caffo was also chosen to represent the University of Buenos Aires team in the oral hearings of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot (FDI) that were held at King’s College (London, U.K.) in November 2011 and in the oral hearings of the International Commercial Arbitration Competition that were held at the University of Rosario (Bogota, Colombia) in 2010. He has also served as an arbitrator and coach for several years in this latter competition.

In 2016, Mr. Caffo became the head coach of the University of Buenos Aires’s team in the International Commercial Arbitration Competition, leading the team to obtain first place in the competition for the first time in the history of the competition.

Mr. Caffo has written articles and participates in arbitration and corporate law conferences organized by universities and professional organizations in Latin America and Europe.

Finally, Mr. Caffo is founder and Director of BA Arbitration Review and co-founder of the Argentina Association of Entrepreneurs (Asociación de Emprendedores de Argentina or “ASEA”).

Mr. Caffo is fluent in English and Spanish.
